A Spirit Love Song™ Devotional
As believers around the world begin Holy Week, Palm Sunday arrives not with pomp, but with paradox. It is a day of joy and sorrow, victory and humility, praise and prophecy. It begins with shouts of “Hosanna!” and ends in silence at the foot of the cross. In this sacred tension, we find not only the story of Jesus — but the pattern of our own lives as we follow Him.
In this week’s Spirit Love Song™ reflection, we walk through the Palm Sunday readings to encounter Jesus in His humility, His majesty, and His love that surpasses all understanding.
“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” — Luke 19:38

“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” — Luke 19:38
🌿 The Triumphal Entry — Luke 19:28–40
Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem marks a turning point in the Gospel. He rides not a stallion of war, but a colt of peace. The crowd lays their cloaks on the road — an act of deep reverence and royal welcome. The people rejoice, sensing that something divine is unfolding before them.
But Jesus knows the same crowd that cries “Hosanna” will soon shout “Crucify.” Still, He moves forward — not for the accolades, but for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2): the redemption of the world.
Reflection:
Palm Sunday invites us to lay down our expectations and welcome the real Jesus — the one who comes not to meet our plans, but to fulfill God’s.

✝️ The Suffering Servant — Isaiah 50:4–7
“I gave my back to those who beat me… I did not hide my face from insult and spitting.” — Isaiah 50:6
This prophetic text from Isaiah gives voice to the inner strength of Christ as He prepares for the Passion. Though rejected and humiliated, the Suffering Servant sets His face “like flint.” He is grounded not in popularity, but in purpose.
Jesus knows the pain ahead — the betrayal, the scourging, the cross — and He chooses to walk into it. Not because He must, but because He loves.
Reflection:
Are we willing to walk in faith even when it leads to discomfort? Palm Sunday is not only a celebration — it is a commitment to follow Jesus wherever He leads.

The Psalm of Abandonment and Trust — Psalm 22
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” — Psalm 22:1
“Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.” — Psalm 22:3
Psalm 22 gives us a powerful window into Jesus’ suffering on the cross. His cry of abandonment echoes this psalm verbatim (see Matthew 27:46). Yet within the same passage, we find hope — a trust in God’s ultimate deliverance.
What begins in despair ends in worship:
“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord” (Psalm 22:27).
Reflection:
In our own moments of suffering or silence from God, Palm Sunday assures us that Jesus understands. And like the psalmist, we can trust that pain will not have the last word.
The Mind of Christ — Philippians 2:6–11
“Though He was in the form of God, He did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.” — Philippians 2:6
This powerful hymn from Philippians is the heartbeat of Palm Sunday. Jesus did not cling to privilege — instead, He emptied Himself. He chose humility, obedience, and death — even death on a cross.
And because of that, God exalted Him.
This is the pattern of glory in the Kingdom of God: downward to go upward. Humility precedes honor. Surrender precedes resurrection.
Reflection:
Where do we need to “let go” of control, pride, or status in our own walk with Jesus? Palm Sunday invites us to take on the mind of Christ — to empty ourselves in trust, so we may be filled with God’s grace.

The Passion of the Christ — Luke 22:14–23:56
Luke’s Passion narrative stretches from the Last Supper to the burial of Jesus. It includes betrayal, denial, injustice, violence, silence, and sacrifice. It is the Gospel’s longest and most solemn passage — and its most essential.
Amid the darkness, we see beauty:
- Jesus offering bread and wine as His very self
- Praying in agony in Gethsemane, yet submitting to the Father
- Healing the ear of a man arresting Him
- Forgiving His executioners
- Welcoming the criminal beside Him into Paradise
- Commending His spirit into the Father’s hands
Even in the Passion, love never breaks.
Reflection:
Palm Sunday is not just a gateway to Holy Week. It is a call to follow Jesus — not only into praise, but into pain… and through it, into promise.
💛 The Brilliance of Love in Suffering
Palm Sunday teaches us that God’s glory doesn’t always come wrapped in gold. Sometimes it rides in on a borrowed donkey. Sometimes it’s crowned with thorns. And sometimes, it’s nailed to a cross.
But in that suffering is salvation.
In that humility is honor.
In that love is life.
As we walk into Holy Week, may we do so with reverence, awe, and gratitude — knowing that the One who entered Jerusalem in meekness now reigns in glory.

Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
As You entered Jerusalem, so enter my heart today.
Teach me to praise You in the highs and trust You in the lows.
Give me the courage to walk with You — not just on the path of palm branches,
but on the road to the cross.
Let this Holy Week awaken in me a deeper love, a truer faith, and a heart that reflects Your own.
Hosanna in the highest.
Amen.
